Port of Blyth Zone

Next generation renewables

This Zone is a cluster of four sites which are all part of the Blyth Estuary Renewable Energy Zone.

The four sites of Port of Blyth

The sites offer direct access to the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (formerly NAREC) National Renewable Energy Centre as well as established companies who have already contributed to developing this area. Businesses here also benefit from the close proximity of suppliers supporting transportation, logistics and handling.

Every business settling here is supported by excellent infrastructure comprising of the Port of Blyth, Newcastle International Airport and Newcastle Central station.

The workforce offered by the North East, is highly skilled. It starts with our universities which specialise in the marine and engineering sectors; for example, Newcastle University’s Neptune National Centre for Subsea and Offshore Engineering and Gateshead College’s Skills Academy for Sustainable Manufacturing and Innovation.  BEREZ, a Centre of Training Excellence is also increasing the number of technicians and graduates from specialist courses in order to meet organisational requirements.
