Advisory Boards

In addition to our Board, we have three  advisory boards who are responsible for driving delivery of the Strategic Economic Plan.

Business Growth Board

The Business Growth Board has been created to oversee and advise on programme implementation and development.

With the aim of driving new thinking around business support services, products and processes for growth and acceleration, the Business Growth Board brings together ambitious business representatives with members of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership Board and representatives from area’s universities and colleges.

With a business base in the North East, members of the Business Growth Board not only have strong experience and ambitions for growth in their businesses, but also share our commitment to making it easier for businesses to access the support they need.

The Strategic Economic Plan

In March 2014, the North East Local Enterprise Partnership published its Strategic Economic Plan (SEP) for the North East.

Detailing how the North East economy can, and will, grow in the coming years, the SEP is the region’s road map to economic success, outlining how we can create an extra 100,000 more and better jobs by 2024.

Because of the changing economic climate and in light of the UK’s decision to leave the European Union, the North East LEP – in partnership with the North East Combined Authority – took the decision in 2016 to refresh parts of the SEP, reflecting on new evidence relating to the region’s economic position and evolving public policy environment. You can read the new Strategic Economic Plan here.
