International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP)

The International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP) is a 150 hectare development site to the north of Nissan UK, Washington and adjacent to the A19 trunk road.

IAMP is designated a ‘Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project’ by Government and is being developed in partnership by Sunderland Council and South Tyneside Council, supported by their joint venture partner, HBD.

IAMP represents the North East LEPs biggest capital infrastructure investment to date, reflecting the strategic importance and potential of the site to support the National Industrial Strategy.

IAMP will become a hub for automotive, advanced manufacturing and technology businesses, and offers Enterprise Zone incentives on the phase 1 site. It is predicted to deliver 260,000m2 of developable floor space and create 7,00 new advanced manufacturing jobs by 2027.

Work commenced with onsite infrastructure in summer 2017 and this will be ongoing over a number of years.

Offsite, Highway’s England are funding capacity improvements to the Testos and Downhill junctions on the A19 to ensure businesses investing in IAMP enjoy good access to the Port of Tyne, Port of Sunderland, Newcastle International Airport and national motorway network.
