Offshore and Wind Energy Training Facility

Partnership project providing new build classroom, workshop and all weather training facilities in Blyth.

This project expanded on the successful Blyth Education and Community Hub (BEACH), to create a new centre for training in relation to offshore and wind energy technologies. The new centre is run in partnership with Newcastle University.

The development offers Newcastle University students use of state-of-the-art research facilities including the Emerson Cavitation Tunnel Laboratory, while also hosting landmark renewable energy related training courses – one of the only courses of its type available in the UK.

Port of Blyth’s training subsidiary Port Training Services is to develop its offering of NVQs and plant training, while enhancing its delivery of apprenticeships and community engagement through a schools partnership and tie in with the Blyth Tall Ship charity.

The building was officially opened in October 2016.
